Family Secret Santa, from one link

For a family Secret Santa, paste one Shuffleroo link in the family chat. Everyone taps their name and pulls a name on their own phone, couples can’t get each other, and nobody sees who got who. Grandparents don’t need an app or an account, and a cousin who joins late still gets a name with no redo.

Free, with no ads and nothing to download.

How it works

  1. Start a Shuffleroo and set the gift limit and gift day.

  2. Add the family. Type names, paste emails, or just share the link in the family chat.

  3. Keep couples apart, then let everyone pull a name when they’re ready.

Couples, and people who live together

Nobody wants to buy a gift for the person they already buy gifts for. The host can add pairs who shouldn’t get each other, like couples, or a parent and the teenager who lives with them.

The pairs lock once the first name is pulled. That keeps it fair. If you need to change them, the host can start over.

Grandparents and older relatives

There is nothing to download and no password to remember. Grandma taps the link, taps her name, and taps “Pull a name”. That’s it.

If she adds an email, she gets a kind reminder before gift day. If she opens it on a new phone, “Get back in” emails her a link. No codes to type.

Kids

Kids don’t need an email. The host can add them by name. Older kids can pull on their own phone.

For little ones, a parent usually pulls with them. That is often what you want, since the parent does the shopping. On a shared phone, tap “Switch person” at the bottom of the group page to hand it over.

Questions, without giving it away

Not sure of your nephew’s shoe size? Ask him. You can send your person a short question, and they answer without learning who asked. Only you see the answer. The host can’t read it.

Plus-ones and late joiners

A new partner comes for the holidays. A cousin decides at the last minute. If some people haven’t pulled yet, the newcomer slots in among them, and nobody pulls again.

If everyone already pulled, the newcomer becomes a plus-one. They pull a name, and that person gets a bonus gift. The host gets the newcomer as a second person to shop for.

Worried the link gets forwarded too far? Turn on “Approve new people”. People who join from the link then wait for the host’s OK.

Made for families

  • Family far away? Anyone can add a shipping address. Only the person who gets them sees it.
  • Wishes: tap a few things you’re into, so whoever gets you has a hint.
  • Gift ideas for your person, within the gift limit.
  • A countdown to gift day, and reminders by email.
  • “I’ve got my gift”: the host sees only a count, like “14 of 20 have their gift”.
  • “Run it again next year”: same couples, fresh hat.

Questions

Can I stop couples from getting each other?

Yes. The host adds pairs who shouldn’t get each other. Pairs lock once the first name is pulled. The host can start over to change them.

Do kids need their own email or phone?

No. The host can add kids by name. A parent can help them pull on any phone.

What if a relative joins after everyone pulled?

They become a plus-one. They pull a name, and that person gets a bonus gift. The host gets them as a second person to shop for. Nobody else pulls again.

Can we use the same group next year?

Yes. The host taps “Run it again next year”. You get a fresh hat with the same couples, and nobody gets the same person as last time when the rules allow it. Last year’s matches are kept only as a scrambled record that nobody can read, not even the host.

Can relatives who live far away take part?

Yes. Anyone can add a shipping address. Only the person who gets them sees it, not the host. Shuffleroo deletes addresses 30 days after gift day.

Ready when you are. It takes a minute.
